  Hounds and horses swooped down on Janet Murfey's Brookfield Corner Farm in Brookfield on Saturday, Oct. 6, as the first day of the formal season for the Piscataqua Hounds. This club, open to riders of all ages and abilities, participates in "drag" hunts, which means a scent is dragged through pre-selected trails and fields and then followed by tracking hounds and horses and their traditionally dressed riders. No real foxes are actually hunted and killed. Oct. 6 also marked the "Blessing of the Hounds," a traditional ceremony performed by the Rev. Sue Poulin from St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Sanbornville.
